Signs and Seconds

A novel with a deeply personal inspiration

When twelve-year-old Kane begins to notice strange patterns, recurring numbers, and seemingly impossible coincidences, he becomes convinced that the universe is trying to tell him something. But as he struggles to make sense of what happened to his father, Kane discovers that healing isn't always found in the signs we look for—it can also be found in the people we least expect.

The story behind the story:

Every year, lives are changed in a split second on our roads—not because people don't care, but because a moment of inattention can have lasting consequences.

Inspired by a deeply personal loss, Signs and Seconds grew from a simple question: What if stories could help young readers become more aware of the people, choices, and moments that surround them every day?

How Storytelling Changes Habits:

Rather than relying on warnings or statistics, Signs and Seconds explores these ideas through character, friendship, grief, and healing. As readers walk alongside Kane on his journey, they are invited to consider the difference between looking and truly seeing, between moving through the world and being fully present within it.

My hope is that the emotional experience of the story stays with readers long after the final page.

The Bigger Picture:

At its heart, Signs and Seconds is a story about grief, forgiveness, friendship, and finding meaning after loss.

It is also a conversation starter—one that encourages empathy, awareness, and thoughtful decision-making in a world where small moments can have lasting consequences.
